Peter Deilmann Cruises is introducing innovative
cuisine themes aboard the 200-passenger Mozart on Danube River
cruises later this summer and in the fall. The cuisine sailings
featuring Michelin-star chefs and cooking shows are on three
Mozart cruises roundtrip from Passau, Germany, to Austria, Hungary
and Slovakia between August and October.
Renowned Michelin-star chefs will spend a
week as guest chefs aboard the Mozart on July 30, September
3 and October 29. They will also present tips and techniques
on preparing their specialties in afternoon cooking shows for
passengers. The September 3-10 cruise will have two guest
chefs on board – Stephan Mattersberger, whose starred restaurants
include Alpenrose Post, Esplanade Berlin and two French specialty
restaurants, will be the guest chef for the week, while Alfons
Schuhbeck, a Michelin star recipient, Gault Millau chef of the
year and author of 20 cookbooks, will be guest chef for one
day.
Master chef Christian Müller of the Munich
Kempinski Airport Hotel restaurant and the Deilmann flagship Deutschland, will present a cooking show displaying his
culinary skills on the Mozart cruise, July 30-August 6. A master
chef from Wiesbaden’s famous Ente (Duck) restaurant, Michelin
star-rated for 27 years, will create the gala dinner menu and
present a cooking show of his creations on the Octopber 29-November
11 cruise. Some cabins are still available on the October 29
cruise.
Ports of call on the Danube cruises are the
Austrian wine village of Dürnstein; Vienna and Budapest for
overnight stays; Bratislava, capital of Slovakia; the Austrian
baroque abbey at Melk and the small town of Grein.
The five-star Mozart accommodates 200 passengers
in 97 cabins of 203 square feet, largest of any river ship.
The vessel also offers two suites of 406 square feet. The ship’s
open-air deck with comfortable lounge chairs and blankets allows
passengers to view the passing riverside scenes, marvel at the
many bridges they sail under and locks they transverse on the
river. The panoramic restaurant serves breakfast, multi-course
luncheons and dinners in a non-smoking environment, while mid-morning
and mid-afternoon coffee, tea, fruit and pastries are served
on the upper deck and in the panoramic lounge. The Mozart has
a remodeled and expanded indoor swimming pool and fitness center,
spacious lounge with dance floor and Mozart café and bar for
drinks and late night buffet. Rates for the October cruise
start at $1,745 per person for an outside twin.

Rembrandt was born on July 15, 1606, and
Amsterdam has put together a gala of events, exhibits and tours
to provide insight into the life of the master on the same streets
and canals on which he traveled. Rembrandt moved to Amsterdam
in 1631 and lived there until his death in 1669. The house he
lived in has been restored and is now a tourist attraction,
as well as an exercise in time-travel among the other historic
buildings of the famous city.
Crown Blue Line's 39-ft. Crusader canal boats
are available from Holland bases at Sneek and Strand Horst for
visitors to conduct their own self-directed tours through the
city and countryside. The Crusaders can sleep up to six people
in luxury and be docked just about anywhere visitors choose
to spend the night. Crusaders come with three heads, including
showers, and feature a top deck patio at a price range of between

Delta Queen Steamboat Company 2007 Schedule
Visits 17 States Via 12 Rivers
Delta Queen Steamboat Company, one of North
America's premier All-American, U.S.-flagged river cruising
companies, has announced its cruise schedule for 2007. During
2007, all three of Delta Queen's deluxe river cruise ships will
ply America's great rivers with journeys through the length
of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, and trips into tributaries
such as the Arkansas, Cumberland and Tennessee rivers. The cruises
are designed to offer more opportunities to discover the heart
and soul of America on the rivers that helped shape American
history. With the flexibility to choose from three to 11-night
cruises, and values that will appeal to just about every traveler,
the 2007 schedule includes more ways than ever before for even
the most seasoned travelers to experience America's vibrant
history, distinct culture and natural beauty.
-- Discover American Heritage on the Lower
Mississippi
The Lower Mississippi River region stretches
from Memphis, Tennessee, the third-largest inland port city,
to the Crescent City of New Orleans. In March 2007, the grand
American Queen, the historic Delta Queen and the classic Mississippi
Queen will kick-off the season with a series of six-, seven-
and eight-night cruises throughout the region. The popular seven-night
Memphis to New Orleans cruise provides port calls and shore
adventures that immerse guests in Southern hospitality, charm
and culture. Along the way, guests can soak up the Delta Blues
in Helena, Arkansas at the Delta Cultural Center; learn more
about the siege of Vicksburg in Vicksburg, Mississippi; and
visit the beautiful plantation homes in Natchez, Mississippi
and St. Francisville, Louisiana. Fares for this week-long cruise
start at $1,549 per person based on double occupancy. Cruises
depart from either Memphis or New Orleans.
Cruises on the Lower Mississippi aboard the
American Queen or Delta Queen give guests an opportunity to
experience the romance of the antebellum era firsthand, providing
a way to discover a land of fertile cotton fields, vast sugar
plantations, moss-draped bayous and mysterious cypress swamps.
Optional shore adventures include visits to poignant Civil War
battlefields and bustling port cities such as New Orleans, Baton
Rouge, and Memphis. For music lovers, there are opportunities
to listen to blues, jazz, gospel and Cajun folk music.
-- Explore the Upper Mississippi and the
Ohio River in America's Heartland
In early summer, Delta Queen's steamboats
head up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers straight through America's
Heartland. The ships carry guests through the scenic panorama
that embodies the Heartland region - from pristine farms nestled
in rolling terrain to steep bluffs that rise from rivers dotted
with wooded islands. Guests can choose from more than ten different
departure ports traveling from trading posts where the settlers
first met and befriended Native Americans to bustling river
ports that became the country's great cities and fascinating
little river towns. Shore adventures along the way allow guests
to stroll through the Victorian architecture in the historic
district of Red Wing, Minnesota; experience the life of a barge
pilot at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium
in Dubuque, Iowa; and visit the boyhood home of Samuel Langhorne
Clemens -- better known as Mark Twain -- in Hannibal, Missouri.
All three of the Delta Queen steamboats offer Upper Mississippi
cruise routes. Guests can choose from 14 different journeys
between July 5 and November 4, 2007. Fares start from $1,789
per person based on double occupancy.
-- A wonderful way to discover America's
Heartland is to take advantage of the popular Fall Foliage theme
cruises. These journeys allow guests to enjoy the glorious palette
of colors along the river. The trip is planned to give guests
the opportunity to sample the bounty of the Heartland at harvest
time in port stops at picture postcard towns such as Winona,
Minnesota, a town founded by a steamboat captain in 1851; La
Crosse, Wisconsin, with its Amish Country flavor; and Alton,
Illinois, where guests can retrace the very beginnings of Lewis
and Clark's trek across the country. An onboard naturalist will
help guests identify the beautiful flora and fauna along the
way. There are 27 Fall Foliage cruises exploring both the Heartland
and the Wilderness Rivers regions between September 21 and November
11, 2007. Guests can choose to travel on any one of the Delta
Queen steamboats and select from three to seven-night programs.
Fares start from $1,049 based on double occupancy.
-- Off the beaten path are the Wilderness
Rivers: Tennessee, Cumberland, Black Warrior and Kanawha. This
is the birthplace of the golden age of steamboats. Journeys
transport guests through the fabled countryside that gave America
Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. The landscape changes from gently
rolling hills to precipitous cliffs and farmlands where the
architecture ranges from rugged log cabins to magnificent mansions.
With a variety of Wilderness Rivers cruise routes to select
from, guests have the opportunity to travel aboard any of the
three Delta Queen steamboats. The popular five-night Cincinnati
to Pittsburgh cruise offers optional shore adventures such as
the opportunity to learn about one of the most notorious battles
ever fought between the Native Americans and early settlers
at Point Pleasant, West Virginia; a stroll through Victorian
Old Town in Wheeling, West Virginia and the chance to examine
prehistoric Native American artifacts in Marietta, Ohio. Fares
for the Cincinnati to Pittsburgh journey start at $1,259 per
person based on double occupancy. The programs along the Wilderness
Rivers are offered July through November, 2007.
-- Delta Queen Steamboat Company offers a
wide variety of popular themed cruises throughout the year that
celebrate the music, history, culture, holidays and events that
Americans cherish. For example, the Big Band music vacation
allows guests to swing to the timeless sound of Big Band music
with special performances by some of the great acts from the
era. These theme cruises typically feature interesting lectures,
optional onboard and onshore experiences, and additional big-name
entertainment.
Other themed cruises include the Kentucky
Derby cruise, Civil War cruises along the Red and Ouachita rivers,
as well as the annual Great Steamboat Race between the Delta
Queen and the Mississippi Queen, when both boats race to St.
Louis in time for the city's 4th of July riverfront celebration
and the dazzling "Fireworks on the River" program
that evening.
Three Distinct Ships Each Provide a Unique
River Cruise Experience
Guests can choose to travel the great rivers
of America aboard the magnificent American Queen, the grand
Mississippi Queen or the legendary Delta Queen. Each of the
ships showcase the opulence of the Golden Age of steamboat travel
in its own way while offering every modern comfort, convenience
and service that travelers today expect. These popular American
river cruises are in high demand every year. Guests are encouraged
to reserve their travel by September 30, 2006 to ensure the
greatest choice and availability of departures and to take advantage
of early booking savings of 10 percent (up to $700 per couple).

Victoria Cruises Introduces Summer Specials
on China’s Yangtze River
In celebration of the early completion of
the Three Gorges Dam, Victoria Cruises, the leading innovator
and pioneer on China’s Yangtze River, has introduced a summer
special of 30 percent off all itineraries in June, July and
August 2006.
Following is an outline of Victoria Cruises’
discounted summer specials:
-- Changing – Inching (four days/three nights)
and Inching – Chongqing (five days/four nights): A favorite
among travelers, the Three Gorges Highlights cruise program
provides an opportunity to sail through the verdant valleys
that comprise the Three Gorges as well as a tour of the Three
Gorges Dam Site. Discounted prices start at $542.50 and include
cabin, meals, entertainment, lectures and port taxes.
-- Chongqing-Yichang-Chongqing (eight days/seven
nights): The Three Gorges Explorer roundtrip program provides
different daily shore excursions in each direction in order
to showcase an in-depth Yangtze River experience from the Three
Gorges and Three Gorges Dam* project to old cities steeped in
historical treasures and new cities built to accommodate those
people who relocated because of the rising Yangtze waters. Discounted
prices start at $980 and include cabin, meals, entertainment,
lectures and port taxes.
-- Chongqing-Shanghai (seven days/six nights)
and Shanghai – Chongqing (nine days/eight nights): In addition
to the Three Gorges, the Grand Yangtze Discovery itinerary incorporates
stops at Wuhan (capital of the Hubei province), Mt. Huangshan
– Yellow Mountain (one of China’s most outstanding scenic attractions)
and Nanjing (capital of Jiangsu province). Discounted prices
start at $980 and include cabin, meals, entertainment, lectures
and port taxes.
Shore excursions are also discounted at 30
percent off and start at $56 per person (which is added on to
the cost of the cruise).
All specials are applicable to standard cabins
only. Rates quoted are per person, based on double occupancy,
may change without notice and are subject to space availability.
Payment is due within two weeks of booking (payment is due immediately
for bookings within three weeks of sailing). Other restrictions
may apply. Bookings are commissionable at 10 percent for travel
agents.
*The Three Gorges Dam was completed in May,
but its power-generation facilities are not slated to be finished
until 2008, a year ahead of the anticipated completion date.
The Three Gorges Dam, the largest engineering project of its
kind, will control the Yangtze River and the floods that have
impacted the river basin each year. Beyond flood control, the
massive water conservancy project will yield benefits for power
generation, navigation, the breeding of aquatic products, and
water supply. Water levels will eventually rise to 175 meters
and while some towns and historical objects will be submerged,
the majority of the magnificent scenery will not be affected.
Breathtaking vistas will remain. Spectacular mountain ridges
and mystical, cloud-shrouded peaks will remain. The peaceful
atmosphere of the area will continue to prevail.
The Qutang, Wu and Xiling Gorges – better
known as the fabled Three Gorges – will continue to be enjoyed
by travelers because of the sheer size of the Gorges. The current
water level in the area of the Qutang and Wu Gorges is quite
high, so the Dam project will increase the water approximately
80 meters. Since the mountain peaks and cliffs in these areas
are between several hundred and more than 1,000 meters high,
most picturesque spots will not be impacted beyond the disappearance
of a few plank roads and water-eroded caves.
The resulting higher water levels will actually
allow Victoria Cruises to reach parts of the Yangtze River that
were previously not accessible. This will make it possible for
visitors to travel further into the Small Three Gorges and go
upstream on the Daning and Shennong Rivers—all Yangtze tributaries.
Tourists will be able to see many new destinations—among them
a cluster of 24 coffins placed in crevices on steep cliffs (bronze
objects in these coffins have dated the owners to the Western
Han Dynasty 206 BC-AD 24).
For more information and a free color brochure
or copy of the expanded DVD, contact Victoria Cruises at 57-08
39th Avenue, Woodside, NY 11377; phone (800) 348-8084, (212)
