About Crystal Cruises

Crystal Cruises is owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), one of the largest and most successful shipping companies in the world.  Headquartered in Tokyo, the firm operates over 800 ships and has offices around the globe.

Founded in 1988, Crystal Cruises introduced its first ship, the Crystal Harmony* in 1990. Today, the Los Angeles-based cruise line operates two ships—Crystal Symphony (1995) and Crystal Serenity (2003). The cruise line is headed by President Gregg Michel, who has been with Crystal since its inception in 1988 and who was appointed president in July 2001.

*(In 2006 Crystal Harmony was transferred from Crystal’s fleet of Crystal Cruises to parent company NYK and now sails as the MS Asuka II for the Japanese trade)

Itineraries

Crystal Symphony operates cruises around the world, offering interesting itineraries of different lengths. This summer  to mid-fall 2009, Symphony is operating cruises in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. She then repositions to Miami for several cruises in the Caribbean before beginning her 108-day Miami-to-London World Voyage on January 11, 2010 that visits seven continents. At the conclusion of her World Voyage (available in segments for those with less than 108 days to spare) in April, she again will offer a spring/summer season of Mediterranean, Western and Northern Europe cruises. In September 2010, she redeploys from Lisbon to New York for a series of New England/Canadian Maritime cruises. In December, the ship transits the Panama Canal to offer several roundtrip cruises out of Los Angeles.
