M/Y Callisto’s 2007/2008 Itineraries

Itineraries

For the rest of 2007 the Callisto travels to Sicily, Northern Africa visiting Libya, Tunisia and Algeria; and Turkey, as listed below.

The Lost Cities of Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria: North Africa’s Greco-Roman Treasures—April 2 to 14, 2007
The ancient cities of North Africa offer some of the most dramatic and well-preserved ruins the world over. Travelers to Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya will find the remains of Greek cities that would not be out of place in Greece itself. Discover Tipasa, whose collection of villas and basilicas overlooks the Mediterranean, and Roman city of Leptis Magna, renowned for its scale and vast collection of buildings and temples.
Sicily: Crossroads of Mediterranean Civilizations—April 20 to 30; May 12 to 22, 2007
Sicily’s cultural treasures are unsurpassed. For 3,000 years, wave after wave of new cultures, ideas, and artistic techniques have swept over this beautiful Mediterranean island, leaving in their wake sublime temples, great cities, captivating villages, and extraordinary works of art. Our journey includes a trove of riches—from the Doric temples of the ancient Greeks to the colossal Roman works to the exquisite Moorish architecture and the artistic achievements of the Byzantine era.
Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast and Islands—June 28 to July 8; July 5 - 15; August 23 to September 2; August 30 to September 9, 2007
From the deck of your private yacht, islands appear. As the ship rounds bleached cliffs, forest mounds, and pebble beaches, a port comes into view: a medieval walled town, perched like a captain on the prow of his ship, virtually unchanged through six centuries or more. This is Dalmatia, the long archipelago coast of the eastern Adriatic coveted by Roman emperors, Venetian doges, and Ottoman caliphs. Our voyage, complete with swimming stops in the royal-blue Adriatic Sea, is unquestionably the ideal way to explore this region. Explore the justly celebrated cities of Dubrovnik and Split, as well as Mostar, its soaring Stari Most Bridge once again serenely beautiful; and the town of Kotor in Montenegro, accessed through southern Europe’s only fjord.
Emperors, Conquerors, and Saints: Exploring Turkey’s Cappadocia &Turquoise Coast
November 1 to 13; November 6 to 18, 2007.
Three indelible images—the domes and minarets of Istanbul; the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia; and the cove-dappled, rippling blue seas of an ancient coast—are paramount in this journey. This combination overland/cruise program promises an unsurpassed experience of Turkey’s epic history and culture. Beginning in Istanbul, we will see the exotic fusion of Europe and Asia in the city’s great Byzantine and Ottoman monuments. Then an idyllic 7-night cruise aboard the elegant private yacht Callisto weaves in and out among the numerous inlets and islets of the Turquoise Coast, visiting an astonishing assortment of ancient sites and traditional villages. Our voyage also includes two days amid the haunting landscapes of Cappadocia, visiting the legendary “Fairy Chimneys” and 6th-century Byzantine villages hewn into the volcanic rock.
